Apple Butter Recipe

The apples in this week’s share are crisp and delicious cut into slices.  If you want to enjoy the crisp weather and our first freeze this weekend, make some apple butter.  I love to cook warm and creamy items when the weather turns to fall.  This is an easy recipe.  It calls for more apples than we received in the CSA share, but you can order more through Marketplace or adjust the recipe.  The recipe uses a food mill, which is a very handy kitchen tool, but I have also made this in a food processor.  Enjoy

  1. Once you put this in jars, do you have to refrigerate it and if so, how long does it keep? Apples will be upon us soon and this is a great idea for my toast eaters.
